iPads In The Classroom: Arkansas State University Turning Even More to Apple iPad

iPads In The Classroom: A couple years back, Arkansas State University decided to consider the benefits of implementing the use of the popular Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad in its classrooms. Now, it appears that the university is ready to take things to the next level. From this point on, until further notice, all incoming students are expected to have one of these tablets.

Apple is actually the smart money’s second favorite publicly traded company (see why it’s important to pay attention to hedge fund activity).

AppleInsider took a closer look at this change by speaking with Dr. Gina Hogue, Ph.D about the school’s adoption of the tablet and what it means for the future.

Here is what Hogue had to say:

“We’d introduce our student teachers to the iPad in the Teaching Methods course, letting them get used to it. Then, the next semester, they’d use the iPad during their teaching internship. We can use it for far more than teaching. It was an opportunity for us to use it to monitor students using FaceTime.”

Apple Inc (AAPL)Starting in the fall semester of 2013, all new students are required to either have an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad when arriving or purchase one before class begins.

This is all part of the school’s iPad Initiative. If you want to learn more about this change, direct from Arkansas State University, visit this page on the school’s website.

While some students may not realize the benefits of using an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) on a daily basis, most have embraced the technology. As you can imagine, this is something that the younger generation truly enjoys. After all, it allows them to learn on a device that most already have experience with.

Even if you don’t attend this institution, you may want to visit the official Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Initiative page for a better idea of what the program is all about. It is safe to say that this change will make its way to other schools in the near future.

What do you think about the direction Arkansas State University is heading? Do you agree with its move to rely more heavily on the iPad tablet?
