Apple Inc. (AAPL) Risking More Than $ in E-book Case?

Crane postulated that now that the agreements between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and the publishers are done, there may be one remaining reason why Apple would even go to trial with Justice – Apple may be seeing this as an opportunity to carve out a principle in antitrust that would further benefit some other aspects of its business – which likely includes content deals with entertainment companies. So the question might be – would fighting for this principle be a long-term payoff for Apple that outweighs the potential short-term financial damage of going through this trial?

What do you think? Should Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) settle this case before June, or does it have enough to fight? Is this a fight about principle, as is suggested, or could this be something more? We’d like your thoughts in the comments section below.
