Google Tablet Vs iPad: In most parts of the world, tablet sales are on the rise. For companies, such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), this is good news. Both companies have a vested interest in the tablet space.

Apple is obviously interested in the table market, thanks to its iPad and iPad mini devices. Despite competition heating up across the globe, the Cupertino-based company has been able to at or near the top of the market.

Google Inc (GOOG)Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) on the other hand, is more concerned with the use of its Android operating system. Sure, the search engine giant has its own tablet but it is most interested in grabbing market share for its OS, and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is the key opponent in this battle.

With all this in mind, the fight between Apple and Google will continue in every market. This is definitely true in Western Europe where tablet sales have tripled followed by yet another decline in the PC market.

According to a report by CONTEXT, sales of tablets more than tripled during quarter one when compared to the same period in 2012.

There are many reasons for the growth, including the fact that consumer PC sales continue to take a huge hit in this part of the world. Of course, Western Europe is no different than any other regions when it comes to PC sales.

With PC sales down 17 percent, according to the report, it only makes sense for tablet sales to get a bump. After all, people have to get their fill of technology somehow, right?

CONTEXT also notes that the tablet market has received a boost by the “7 inch Android based tablet segment.”

While this is good news for Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) it could spell trouble for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as the company continues to seek a larger piece of the market in this region.

CONTEXT co-found Jeremy Davies added the following:

“With an average selling price of less than that of Windows PCs, consumers are voting with their wallets, buying cheaper tablets and forgoing any renewal cycles on their home PCs for the time being.”

It is interesting that consumers are not only shunning PC upgrades, but when shopping for a table these same people are looking for the most affordable options.
