8 Smartphones with the Largest Screens

If you think bigger is better than our 8 smartphones with the largest screens are made for you. They may not fit in your pocket, but that’s the price you have to pay if you want to have the largest smartphone.

For the past couple of years, smartphone manufacturers were competing who will make a smartphone with the largest screen. First smartphones with 4.0 and 4.5 inch displays were considered a standard. After a while, 4.0 and 4.5 inch were considered small, so 5.0 inches became a new display standard. Some manufacturers pushed the line even further (yes Samsung, we are talking about Note model), increasing the screen size to the unthinkable dimensions.

After the hype had cooled down, some people found that smartphones with large screens are impractical. This is why smartphone manufacturers are making their new flagship models with a smaller display. For example, LG released models G3 and G4 with 5.5 inches display, just to go back and give their new G5 model a 5.3 inches display. Even Samsung decided to pull the plug and make their last three Galaxy S models with a display of 5.1 inches. If screen size doesn’t matter to you at all, but recharging does, check out these 6 smartphones with quick charge fastest to recharge from 0 to 100.

The smartphones featuring large screens are often called phablets. For a smartphone to be considered a phablet, the device has to have a screen in size from 5.11 to 7.0 inches. Opinions about phablets are largely divided. While some think they are the future, the others argue that the smartphones with small screen sizes are more practical. Nevertheless, phablets are selling well, and “in the first quarter of 2015, phablets accounted for 21% of all smartphones sold in the US”.

To find out  8 smartphones with the largest screens, we did an extensive research using various keywords that could lead us to our goal. Our main source was the list from Phone Arena, which we complemented with C Net and Mashable. Also, some phones on the Phone Arena’s list that we looked into were listed as tablets, so we didn’t account them into our list.

8. Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Screen Size: 6.4 inches

You may think we started big, but this is nothing compared to what’s waiting for you next. Z Ultra had solid specifications for its size: Quad-core 2.2 GHz processor, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

7. Hisense Infinity Maxe X1

Screen Size: 6.8 inches

Now we go really big. Hisense Infinity X1 is made in China and comes with respectable specifications. The smartphone has Quad Core 2.3GHz processor, 13MP rear and 5MP front camera, 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage.

6. Lenovo Phab Plus

Screen Size: 6.8 inches

Lenovo has made its name for making top end computers, and now that they got into smartphone business as well, it looks like they can’t  escape their desire to go big. 6.8 inches big Phab Plus comes with an Octa-core processor, 13MP back and 5MP front camera, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

5. Huawei P8max

Screen Size: 6.8 inches

For those who liked Huawei P8, but 5.2 inch screen was too small for them, Huawei went one step further and gave them the same phone, but a lot bigger. P8max has a powerful Octa-core processor, 13MP and 5MP cameras, 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage.

4. Celkon Xion s CT695

Screen Size: 6.95 inches

Another Chinese entry on our list of 8 smartphones with the largest screens. Unfortunately, its screen size of 6.95 inches is basically its only quality. The specifications are low to mediocre and include Dual Core 1.2GHz processor, 5MP rear and VGA front camera, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

3. Lenovo Phab

Screen Size: 6.98 inches

Phab appeared at the same time as Phab Plus did, and it got us wondering – if Phab Plus is smaller than Phab, shouldn’t it be called Phab Minus? We think people from Lenovo were messing with us when they picked names for their models. Phab comes with the Quad-core processor, 13MP and 5MP cameras, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of memory.

2. BLU Studio 7.0/II/LTE

Screen Size: 7.0 inches

Now we are officially in the gray area, where the tablets and smartphones mix. Although BLU released 3 models of their 7.0 inches smartphone, we decided to bundle them together, since the only difference between these models is an upgrade of some specifications. For example, they all have 1GB of RAM and Quad Core processors, but 7.0 and 7.0 LTE models have 16GB of storage while 7.0 II has 8GB.

1. Akyumen Holofone

Screen Size: 7.0 inches

Akyumen Holofone is one big and badass smartphone and a perfect conclusion for our list of 8 smartphones with the largest screens. Some consider it a tablet, but we decided to go with the manufacturer’s word that Holofone is a smartphone. It doesn’t only have great specifications like 4GB of RAM, 128GB storage, 13MP and 5MP cameras, but it also has one excellent feature. It has a built-in projector, which will turn any surface into a big screen. What else can you ask for?
