There are some countries that are just able to fix everything that they have and these methods have made them far richer than the others. There are some countries who are struggling to become better because they do not have many resources. There are also some countries that have gotten poorer lately because of their depleting resources. There are different reasons why countries become poor but what is sad is the fact that some countries become poor not because of the things that their country can or cannot offer but because of the people who are handling the funds of the whole country.
Corruption and mismanagement of the funds of the economy are just two of the reasons why some countries cannot help but be part of the list. Most of the countries that are considered poorest in the world right now come from Africa which is a shame because of its wide array of minerals and other natural resources that they may be able to share to the world if only their government will be handled better. Without further ado, here is the list of the poorest countries in the world by GDP per capita.
7. Niger – $853.53
One of the reasons why it is hard for Niger to rise up and become better is because its land is made up of the Sahara Desert. This makes it very hard to think of programs that may help the country become richer in terms of their economy. There is still inequality present in Niger and it does not have many funds to provide the needs of people who are living in this country.
6. Central African Republic – $827.93
This is one good example of a country that has a lot of natural resources but is unable to use that to the best of their abilities in order to improve. It is heavily reliant on its exportation of diamonds when it can do much more. Although this country has somewhat improved over the last few years, it is still a long way from being a developing country.
5. Eritrea – $792.13
It seems that constant colonization has changed the way that Eritrea could have been. It is the country that is supposed to control the Suez Canal when it opened way back but it is also through the Suez Canal that they were colonized first by the Italians and then by the British. It has been unable to recover from these problems and the growth of this country is relatively low.
4. Liberia – $716.04
Even though this is one African country that was not colonized by Europeans in the past, it still has its share of problems since this was the place where slaves were taken in the past. They formulated various things that have managed to change their current state but they also had a civil war just more than a decade ago that they never fully recovered from. There are more than half of the population who are still living in poverty at present time. This makes it number 4 on the list of poorest countries in the world by GDP per capita.
3. Burundi – $648.58
When the country of Burundi is mentioned, a lot of people associate it with never ending wars and issues. The wars may be tribal or civil but it is apparent that this has changed the lives of people who are living in this country. It does not have a concrete legal system which makes following the rules harder because of the lack of discipline. There are a lot of children who are living in chronic malnutrition in this country and this is expected with more than 80% of people who are living here living with less than $1 a day.
2. Zimbabwe – $589.86
The people who are living in Zimbabwe have the lowest life expectancy in the world. Those who are living in this country consider it lucky to reach the age of 40 since most men die at age 37 and women die at the age of 34. The poor living conditions of this country have not improved greatly despite the help that was given to them years ago.

Even though this country was not the poorest country in the past, its economy has deteriorated over the past couple of years. The main reason for this is because of the war that has managed to change their way of living. A lot of people were also killed during the war although the populations of people who are still living in this country are still a lot as compared to other countries.
The leaders of different countries should be able to come up with the right strategies in order to make their economy rise up and at the same time, improve the standard way of living of people who are living in the poorest countries in the world by GDP per capita.
