7 Hedge Fund Trades to Keep an Eye On

Hedge fund trades: In the hedge fund universe there are many transactions every day. Here are seven such moves you should keep an eye on.

Nelson Obus

Tiger Global Management reported ownership of some 53.5 million shares of London-listed BBA Aviation plc (LON:BBA). The position amasses 11.4% of voting rights for Tiger Global, and represents an increase from previously held 7.7%.

Jana Partners, led by Barry Rosenstein, also caught our attention disclosing a purchase of 1.0 million shares of Oil States International, Inc. (NYSE:OIS). The shares have been purchased at a price of $80 apiece. Following the transaction, Jana Partners holds around 6.5 million shares of Oil States.

Also earlier this week, Nelson Obus and Wynnefield Capital reported that they now hold an activist stake GlyEco Inc (OTCMKTS:GLYE) that comprises 6.9% of the company.

Billionaire Kerr Neilson’s Platinum Asset Management edged up its exposure in the construction and power equipment supplier Foster Wheeler AG (NASDAQ:FWLT) through disclosing a 10.2% position.

Gamco Investors, managed by Mario Gabelli, reported an increase in its passive stake in Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) to 4.1% of outstanding shares, from the previously owned 3%.

Ricky Sandler and Eminence Capital have been bullish on Group 1 Automotive, Inc. (NYSE:GPI), adding the company to its equity portfolio via purchasing a 5.4% stake.

The hedge fund company managed by Steven Cohen, SAC Capital, disclosed in a filing that it now owns a big chunk of nanomedicine company Arrowhead Research Corp (NASDAQ:ARWR), in a passive stake that amasses 5.2% of the company.
