Military Satellites: 9

According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), India has launched 129 satellites since 1975. In addition, the country has also sent to orbit another 342 satellites for at least 36 foreign countries. India uses about 9 of its satellites for military purposes, as noted by Power Atlas in its 2021 report. Most notable satellites dedicated entirely to the Indian military are GSAT-7, which serves the Navy, and GSAT-7A, which was developed for the Air Force. Work is currently underway for India’s army to have its own dedicated military satellite.
