The problem of violence against women in Pakistan is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The prevalence of gender-based violence in Pakistan sheds light on the deplorable condition of women’s rights in the country. In Pakistan’s infamous judicial system, victims, particularly those from lower-class backgrounds, can spend years battling for justice, but cases drag on seemingly without end. Although much violence against women in Pakistan goes unreported, state-sponsored violence against women is notably ignored and, even when reported, fails to elicit the same level of outrage as other cases.
