13D Filing: Gamco Investors and Cablevision Systems Corp (CVC)

Billionaire Mario Gabelli‘s GAMCO Investors has recently filed a 13D, in which it disclosed its stake in Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE:CVC). According to the filing, the aggregate amount held by GAMCO and its affiliates is 13.05 million shares, which represent 5.86% of the company’s outstanding stock. Out of the aggregate amount, GAMCO owns 7.94 million shares. In its latest 13F, GAMCO Investors disclosed holding 9.13 million shares, held as of the end of 2015.

Cablevision Systems has seen an increase in enthusiasm from smart money recently. At the end of the fourth quarter, a total of 46 of the hedge funds tracked by Insider Monkey held long positions in this stock, a increase of 28% from the previous quarter. With the smart money’s sentiment swirling, there exists an “upper tier” of notable hedge fund managers who were boosting their stakes substantially (or already accumulated large positions).
