11 Most Racist States Ranked By Hate Crimes

The 11 most racist states ranked by hate crime apparently still live a couple of centuries ago as far as progressive thought and open-mindedness are concerned. Of course, their entire population is not one hundred percent ready to grab their pitchforks and torches at the sight of a slightly darker colored person but statistics show that the majority of them could be very well at least thinking through this scenario.

Racial hate crime has been a big issue in the USA (and also for the 10 most racist countries in the world) probably ever since a different race than the white people was introduced to their lands. From the worldwide known history of black people’s enslavement to the horrific treatment of Mexicans and other Latinos who tried to gain entry to the country in its early days, the US has been known to have quite a problem regarding the peaceful coexisting with people of different race. Using Chinese immigrants as a cheap, disposable workforce during the construction of what grew to be what we know today certainly did not help their case either.

The infamous Ku-Klux Klan and the white supremacy movement are one more major manifestation of the racial bias the land of the free has. Through lynching, burning, beating and other practices which would now cause a civil war but were then turned a blind eye on, morally broken people have been causing problems for peaceful residents of different race for centuries. Let’s take a look at where that is most likely to happen.

11. Arkansas

The twenty-ninth largest state in the US takes the eleventh place on the list. As of recent years, over thirty percent of the state’s population is represented by minorities. People in Arkansas are known to be racist to all non-whites, not just black people.

10. Missouri

Missouri’s non-white population is less than our previous contender but that doesn’t determine its place on the list as it takes the tenth spot. Missouri’s independent city of St.Louis is also thought to be one of the most racist cities nationwide due to the majority of hate crime cases there.

9. Oklahoma

Just fresh out of a controversial racism case in which a fraternity from the University of Oklahoma was involved, the state of Oklahoma takes the ninth spot with recent figures showing that the non-white population has grown to over forty percent.

8. Florida

Florida’s population has a bigger number of Latinos and white Hispanic people than African-American but this does not mean lower racism levels as stupidity knows no race. Racism in Florida can be observed among non-white people as well.

7. Kentucky

Associated with being the home of a fast food chain that took over the world but not with the huge racism rates, Kentucky makes the seventh spot on the list. Kentucky has been known and continues to be the home of a lot of racial controversies, including a big number of hate crimes on a racial basis.

6. Georgia

Almost half of the population of our sixth contender on the list of the 11 most racist states ranked by hate crime is non-white. Georgia continues to be the home of major racial controversy cases, including the more recent school principal case where offending racial remarks were made during an official ceremony.

5. Louisiana

Close to forty percent of Louisiana’s population is non-white. The state takes the fifth place on this list mainly due to its high levels of racial bias which not only offend people but are also motives for a big number of hate crimes.

4. Tennessee

Tennessee takes the fourth spot on our list with their special hatred for non-whites. After all, Tennessee is also the state where one of the most prolific fighters for equal racial rights – Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered, making it the home of one of the most iconic racial hate crimes.

3. Texas

You have every right to not be surprised by Texas’ appearance on this list, although you are allowed a slight surprise at it taking the third spot. Texas is also the home of another gruesome and remembered racial hate crime – the horrible murder of James Byrd Jr.

2. Alabama

Alabama takes the second spot with an astonishingly high rate of racial bias hate crimes against all non-whites. The state has almost half of its population represented by minorities, which can only worsen the problem for all non-white people in Alabama.

1. Mississippi

The number one of the 11 most racist states ranked by hate crime is Mississippi. Aside from a hard-to-spell name, it also has some hard to convince that race is nothing to hate people. The most recent example of racial bias crime is the murder of James Craig Anderson, an African-American man who was robbed, beaten and run over by a group of white teenagers.
