2. Singapore

Life expectancy average score: 84.28

In 1960, Singapore’s life expectancy was 66 years. Now it has one of the largest per capita elderly populations in the world, as it is a developing country which has seen a lot of investment in healthcare and standards of living, which is why we can see the huge strides the country has made over the past few decades.

1. Japan

Life expectancy average score: 84.86

Even though European countries have completely dominated this list, it is actually Japan which tops the list of 25 countries with the highest life expectancy. The Japanese way of living and of course the standard of living are both prime reasons of why they have such a long life expectancy. In fact, Japan is home to an island Okinawa which has the highest concentration of centenarians in the world. And more than 2/3rds of those centenarians are still functioning completely independently, even though there are around 100 years old, which is an amazing feat.
