The farmer Peter Whatling accidentally found this treasure, probably not being aware of its value from the very beginning. Actually, the only thing he wanted was to find his lost hammer but eventually ended up finding coins, jewelry, gold and silver spoons and so many other worthy things. Today, they all belong to the British Museum and are one of the biggest hidden treasures ever found in the world.
