General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is recalling 64,000 of its plug in electric Chevrolet Volt. That is almost all the Volt vehicles that General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has sold over the past few years. MacDonald clarified that 9 out of 10 Chevrolet Volt vehicles were recalled. She added that General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is telling dealers not to sell either the used of new Chevrolet Volt (2011 – 2013 model) vehicles to customers.

MacDonald explained what really was the problem with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)’s Chevrolet Volt Vehicles.

“[…] Here’s what’s going on. If you drive a Chevy Volt, the engine tends to be very quiet. You may not have known that you have not turned it off. So if you don’t turn it off, the battery then gets drained and then the gas engine flips on and that creates Carbon Monoxide. Two injuries known so far from this. GM is recalling the Chevy Volt to fix this of,” MacDonald said.

She added that the Chevy Volt production shops might idle or shut down for some time till General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) could fix this issue.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has recalled 64,000 out of the total 74,266 Volt vehicles sold. She added that General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is down fractionally in trading on Friday as the news about this recall broke out.
