Other companies in which Berkshire marginally increased its exposure during the first quarter were Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR), Deere & Company (NYSE:DE), Visa Inc (NYSE:V), and Bank of New York Mellon Corp (NYSE:BK). In the case of Liberty Media Corp (NASDAQ:LMCK), in which Berkshire owns stakes in two classes of stock, the fund increased its exposure to the tune of 28% and 29%, respectively. It reported holding 20.0 million series C shares of Liberty Media Corp (NASDAQ:LMCK), up by 29% on the quarter and 10.0 million series A shares, up by 28% on the quarter. Liberty Global plc – Class A Ordinary Shares (NASDAQ:LBTYA) is another company in which Berkshire boosted its stake during the first quarter, adding 3.03 million shares to a position containing 15.58 million shares worth $599.73 million at the end of March.

Let’s now take a look at the companies in which Berkshire trimmed its stakes during the first three months of 2016, which include Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT), in which Berkshire inched down its position by 1% to 55.23 million shares worth $3.78 billion at the end of March. In Mastercard Inc (NYSE:MA) and WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC), the stakes were reduced by 5% and 2% on the quarter to 4.93 million shares worth $466.33 million and 3.24 million shares worth $346.11 million, respectively. However, one company in which Berkshire cut its stake nearly entirely, by 99% on the quarter, is Procter & Gamble Co (NYSE:PG), in which the fund held 315,400 shares valued at $25.96 million at the end of March. However, the shares were not sold in the open-market. In February, Berkshire and Procter & Gamble completed a deal announced in 2014, following which Berkshire exchanged 52 million shares of Procter & Gamble Co (NYSE:PG) for the battery-maker Duracell.

The only stake that Berkshire closed during the first quarter was AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), in which the fund previously held 46.58 million shares. The move came amid a 13% gain registered by AT&T’s stock during the first quarter. Berkshire acquired the stake in AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) during the third quarter of 2015 following AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T)’s acquisition of DirecTV, which was completed in July. The stock has gained around 14% since the acquisition was completed.
