People Need To Be On Twitter Inc (TWTR) To Participate In Current Events: Aliza Knox

The world is also happening on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) and people need to be on the service to participate in current events, Aliza Knox told CNBC in a recent discussion.

The managing director for online sales in Asia Pacific for Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) was discussing this year’s “Golden Tweet,” or the tweet that got the most retweets and favorites when she commented about how the company’s service has become an integral part in how the world experiences current events.

“I would say the most important thing really is what you see is that the world is happening on Twitter. Most events that happen in the world, you also see on Twitter. So if you want to be part of that, if you want to participate, you need to be on Twitter. You don’t need to tweet, you need to be there watching,” she said.

According to her, there are even some “cool” events on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) that are not happening in the real world.

Meanwhile, Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s fastest growing region is Asia, the managing director said. She said that several of the service’s top 5 countries are in the region. She specifically said that India and Indonesia are among the top countries for the service.

She also reaffirmed that Ellen DeGeneres’ tweet from the Oscars is this year’s “Golden Tweet” but revealed that the second “Golden Tweet” is actually from Indonesia. It’s from a person trying to convince people to vote for Joko Widodo who went on to win the most recent presidential election in Indonesia.

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) shareholders by the end of the third quarter includes John Thaler’s Jat Capital Management which reported owning about 9.96 million shares of the company.
