Paul Tudor Jones Is Trading LyondellBasell Industries NV (LYB), Baxter International Inc. (BAX) & Merck & Co., Inc. (MRK)

Paul Tudor Jones is the manager of Tudor Investment Corp, focusing on equity, debt, venture capital, currency and the commodity markets. While PTJ isn’t known as a long-term investor, per say, we’ll still take a look at his top five equity picks from the past quarter; it’s worth it to track the best investors because of their market-beating potential.

TUDOR INVESTMENT CORPIn this way, in the latest round of 13F filings, Paul Tudor Jones’ hedge fund disclosed its largest stake was in LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE:LYB). The position involves 1.14 million shares and is worth $75.6 million. During the second quarter of the year, Tudor Investment Corp’s stake in LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE:LYB) surged by 1.13 million shares. The stock of LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE:LYBreturned almost 22% since the beginning of the year, while its forward P/E and PEG ratios amounting to 9.8x and 1.2 respectively.

The next two positions on our list are held by Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:BAX) and Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE:MRK), in which the hedge fund disclosed ownership of 383,300 and 458,100 shares respectively. The value of the Tudor’s stake in Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:BAX) amounts to $26.6 million, with the hedge fund adding 380,400 shares during the last quarter. Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE:MRK)’s stake in Tudor’s equity portfolio is worth $21.3 million, rising by 172,800 shares over the quarter. The stocks of both Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:BAX) and Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE:MRKhave positive returns since the beginning of the year, amounting to 10.2% and 18.6% respectively.

Fourth place is held by WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE:WLP). Tudor Investment Corp disclosed ownership of 254,100 shares of the company, worth $20.8 million. In the previous round of 13F filings, the hedge fund’s position in WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE:WLP) involved 330,550 shares, and was worth $21.9 million. In addition to Tudor Investment Corp, we can mention Donald Yacktman’s Yacktman Asset Management and Cliff Asness’ Aqr Capital Management among other hedge funds that are long WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE:WLP).

The fifth position is represented by 1.4 million shares in Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI), disclosed by the hedge fund in its latest 13F. The value of the stake is $20 million. During the second quarter of the year, Tudor’s stake in Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) increased by 1.4 million. With a forward P/E of 13.5x and a PEG of 1.0, the stock of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) has a year-to-date return of over 64%.

On the whole, the equity portfolio of Tudor Investment Corp has a market value of $1.3 billion, remaining almost flat compared with the Q1 value.
