Top Global Picks in Chips (Barron’s)
We believe business conditions have bifurcated in the semiconductor sector post second-quarter earnings, as the communications, industrial and automotive end-markets remain strong, while the PC and handset segments remain soft. Our JPMorgan global semiconductor team’s top picks reflect a combination of exposure to the strongest end-markets — communications/auto/industrial ( Xilinx (ticker: XLNX) and Infineon [of Germany]) — and structural share gainers ( Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:TSM), Mediatek [of Taiwan] and Broadcom (BRCM)).
