Microsoft Vs Google: Microsoft Can’t Compete with Google in this Department

Microsoft Vs Google: Which search engine do you rely on? Where do you turn when it is time to search online? While Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) continues to be top dog, some are giving Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Bing a second look.

While there is nothing wrong with competition, and Bing certainly brings some benefits to the table, it is important to note that Google is still on top. One of the main reasons for this, according to a study by the German testing lab AV-Test, is Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s online safety and security.

According to a report by the firm, as noted by PCMag.com, “searches on Bing returned five times more links to malicious websites than Google searches.”

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)In today’s day and age, internet security is more important than ever before. If this study is accurate, it appears that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) understands the importance while Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is behind the times.

Despite the fact that both search engines are doing their best to squash malicious results, this is not possible at all times. For this reason, there are still instances in which infested websites are included at the top of the results.

For those who don’t have the time to read through the results, here is a general rundown when compared Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) to the competition:

“The study carried out by AV-Test evaluated close to 40 million websites over a period of 18 months. A good 20 million of these websites were provided by Google and Bing in equal parts.”

The study goes on to discuss the fact that Google achieved the best results, followed by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Bing. While it was good for Bing to take home second place, it is important to note that it returned “five times as many websites containing malware as Google.”

At this point in time, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) continues to provide the best search experience. This is due in large part to the results, but as you can see from this study, the search giant is also dominating the competition when it comes to filtering malicious websites.

Despite all this, Bing continues to do its best to steal some of the search market. Check out the video on the next page to see one of the strategies the company is employing:
