For the past week, Bill Gates‘ investment arm, Cascade Investment has been consistently reporting acquiring more shares of Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG). Overall, since June 12, in several Form 4 filings, Cascade reported the acquisition of an aggregate amount of around 1.58 million shares, at prices ranging between approximately $36.60 and $37.20 apiece. According to the latest filing, Cascade currently holds directly 91.21 million shares of Republic Services, which account for 25.60% of the company’s outstanding common stock.
Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG) is a $13.30 billion market cap company engaged in the domestic non-hazardous solid waste industry. For the first quarter of the year, the company reported a solid increase in EPS to $0.37 from $0.34 a year ago. Aside from Cascade Investment, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, where Mr. Gates is a trustee, has also disclosed ownership of 1.35 million shares of Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG).
