Everybody knows that CEO Tim Cook is top dog at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). He is the man in charge, and when the tough decisions have to be made he is the guy pulling the trigger. Earlier this week, we brought you a piece about Cook’s ability to forecast the future as a means of putting the company in position to best succeed.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsWhile there is no denying the fact that Cook is doing big things for Apple, you cannot lose sight of the fact that there are many others within the company that help to keep things moving in the right direction.

Do you understand Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s organizational structure? You are not the only one who finds this confusing. And for the most part, this isn’t your fault. After all, Apple keeps this under wraps for the most part.

Asymco recently took a closer look at the organizational structure phenomenon at Apple. Here is what you need to know:

“Although reading “luxury product CEO” and concluding “new luxury products” seems logical, a little knowledge about how Apple is organized dispels this notion. And a little knowledge happens to be about all we have, as Apple’s organization is one of its most closely guarded secrets. Even employees at Apple have little idea of how the company is organized.”

On the next page we share the chart published by Asymco, giving a better idea of where others fit into the grand scheme of things at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).

Here is more:

“There is no “head of devices” or “head of iPhone”. Put more plainly, there is no organizational consistency with how the company reports its financial performance.”

While this information is interesting enough, the bigger question is this: why does Apple keep this information so closely guarded? Does it really matter if outsiders know who is in charge of what within the company?

We may not be able to understand why Cupertino is so secretive, but Apple likely has many reasons for this.

Despite the fact that people continue to crave more and more information about Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its inner workings, don’t expect to hear much in the near future. For now, all we have is some basic information on the employee and organizational structure at Cupertino.
