Record Services Revenue Meets AI Ambitions
AI is an integral part of Apple’s strategy under the new CEO John Ternus, as the company started rolling out the redesigned Siri AI Beta. This contains additional features and advanced capabilities, along with access to hundreds of thousands of apps.
The company is also venturing into enterprise servers which will be powered by its planned M8 Ultra processors, that are yet to be released. With launch target of 2029, the underlying designs will feature either two or four M8 Ultra chips.
The developments follow an impressive third quarter print where Apple posted $109.4 billion in revenue, up 16.4% compared to Q3 FY25. The diluted earnings per share went up roughly 29% to $2.02. The company generated $34.4 billion in operating cash flows during the quarter.
Not a Smooth Path to AI Relevance
Pursuit of advanced AI capabilities introduces a major challenge for Apple. The company faced delays to the Siri overhaul and its product offerings also lacked advanced AI features in the past. The redesigned Siri does cater to those shortcomings but its initial geographic availability remains limited, with regulatory hurdles across China and EU.
The company faces regulatory challenges related to its App Store operations, as well as the digital markets legislation. This could cause major structural changes within its lucrative services business model. The Siri AI Beta is also subject to regulatory hurdles as it is not accessible to users within the European Union.
