Google Glass Privacy: Will Google Glass Lead to Privacy Concerns?

Google Glass Privacy: A growing number of people are getting excited about Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass coming to market in the near future. While there are sure to be people who are using the glasses for good, there are others who are likely thinking up ways to be deceitful with the device.

Google is one of the hedge fund industry’s most popular stock picks, and it’s always important to pay attention to the smart money (see just why here).

As Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass catches on and people all over the world begin to take advantage, it will be interesting to see what type of privacy concerns come into play.

Here is what the article had to say:

“The 5 Point, a self-described dive bar in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood, posted a notice to its Facebook page this week telling Glass Explorers looking to grab a pint that they will need to remove their $1,500 spectacles.”

In short, the bar wants people to be able to have a good time without worrying about others potentially taking photos of them without permission. And the best way of doing this is to simply ban the device from the establishment.

ZDNet went on to add the following prediction:

“When public awareness of Google Glass reaches a critical mass and it’s understood that these devices can record photos, video, and audio of the wearer’s surroundings, an outbreak of bans is sure to result. Don’t be surprised if within weeks of the Google Glasses general release we start seeing bans of it cropping up all over the place.”

Right now, this may not sound like a big deal. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass is not yet available, and even when it does hit the market, a large number of people are not likely to purchase the device due to its high price tag. However, public awareness will grow over time which will eventually lead to greater privacy concerns.
