Large Screen iPhone: Will Budget Apple iPhone have a Bigger Display?

Large Screen iPhone: With each passing day, a growing number of people get excited about the prospects of a budget Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone. While the Cupertino-based company has yet to discuss this rumor in depth, it has not stopped many, including analysts, from believing that this model will hit the market at some point in 2013.

Apple Inc (AAPL)Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is actually the smart money’s second favorite publicly traded company but hedge funds have started dumping Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in favor of a surprising financial stock (see which stock hedge funds are buying like crazy).

Although there are many rumors out there, one of the most talked about is the fact that a cheaper iPhone could have a larger display. In most cases, many believe that the display will be 4.5 inches as opposed to the 4 inches found in the current iPhone 5.

AppleInsider has come across some information putting this rumor to rest. Here is what they had to say:

“The details on Apple’s so-called “budget” iPhone were revealed on Friday to AppleInsider by Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who has a reliable track record in predicting Apple’s future product plans. According to Kuo, the specs for Apple’s low-cost iPhone were decided in 2011, and the company is “unlikely to abruptly change” due to a market shift toward larger screens in the 5-inch range.”

Even if the display size stays the same, there are going to be some changes. After all, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has to save money somewhere.

For example, the cheaper model will likely have a thin plastic casing. Kuo added, “the material will make it stronger, thinner and lighter than typical smartphone plastic casings.”

What about the thickness of the new device casing? Once again, there are rumors everywhere about this, but he expects a thickness of anywhere from 0.4 and 0.6 millimeters. This is thicker than the usual 0.7 to 1 millimeter.

With so many rumors out there, it is hard to say what is and is not true. Do you believe that a cheaper Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone will have the same display size as the iPhone 5? Share your opinion in the comment section below.
