Why Lululemon Athletica (LULU) Stock is a Compelling Investment Case

Brown Advisory recently released its Q2 2020 Investor Letter, a copy of which you can download here. The Large-Cap Growth Fund posted a return of 27.86% for the quarter, outperforming its benchmark, the Russell 1000 Growth Index which returned 27.84% in the same quarter. You should check out Brown Advisory’s top 5 stock picks for investors to buy right now, which could be the biggest winners of the stock market crash.

In the said letter, Brown Advisory highlighted a few stocks and Lululemon Athletica Inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) is one of them. Lululemon Athletica Inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) is an athletic apparel retailer. Year-to-date, Lululemon Athletica Inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) stock gained 40.5% and on July 21st it had a closing price of $325.39. Here is what Brown Advisory said:

“The recent market volatility afforded us the opportunity to swap out of our position in TJX Companies into Lululemon Athletica. While nothing at TJX was broken, our action was purely an upgrade from one good business model into an even better one, in our view. We believe Lululemon has an exceptional business model within the athleisure apparel space. The company has complete control over its product line distribution, which is rather unique for an apparel company. This gives the company a favorable margin structure, coupled with a fast-growing top line. As compared to TJX, Lululemon also benefits from a higher percentage of sales from e-commerce, which is becoming more important in the near and long term.”
