Though the number of hedge funds that have a stake in Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) went up by three during the April-June period, the aggregate value of their investments declined by 9.3%, which was more than the 6.1% depreciation of the stock. Last month the company blew analysts’ estimates by reporting EPS of $0.47 and revenue of $37.3 billion for the second quarter, versus expected EPS of $0.37 and revenue of $35.34 billion. David E. Shaw‘s firm D.E. Shaw was bullish on Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) during the second quarter, it nearly quadrupled its stake to slightly over 3 million shares during the quarter.

With a dividend yield hovering around 5%, it’s not hard to understand why hedge funds like General Motors Company (NYSE:GM). The company also recently topped our list of the five most popular high dividend stocks among hedge funds, even when the aggregate value of their investments fell by 14% quarter-over-quarter. Since the beginning of 2015, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)’s stock has performed close to Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)’s, and after a significant rise in February both stocks started a gradual decline in late-March that continues till today. However, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)’s stock has suffered more than Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) having lost 10.2% during the second quarter and 15.67% year-to-date. On August 30, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (NYSE:FCAU) chairman, Sergio Marchionne, reiterated his interest in merging Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (NYSE:FCAU) with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM). Warren Buffett‘s Berkshire Hathaway maintains the largest stake in General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) owning 41 million shares as of the end of June.
