What Facebook Inc (FB)’s ‘Teleportation Station’ May Be

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s F8 Developer Conference just got more exciting. According to a report from Mashable, the social networking giant is working on a project called “Teleportation Station”.

However, just before you envision booths that suddenly transport you to other places and really be there, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) won’t likely announce something like that.

Mashable’s Stan Schroeder didn’t make any guesses as to what this interestingly-named project is, but we venture that it has something to do with virtual reality. After all, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) spent billions and bought its very own virtual reality company last year – Oculus VR – and being transported somewhere else doesn’t mean you have to physically be there.

You and any other person involved in the experience just have to believe that the experience is real. In other words, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) may be working on a project to bring people together, or bring people to other places, in an experience that is as close to real life as possible. That project may be what’s being named by the world’s largest social network as “Teleportation Station”.

It should be pointed out, however, that official word is out from the tech company yet about “Teleportation Station.”

Facebook, is FB a good stock to buy, Teleportation Station, Oculus VR, Virtual Reality,

The revelation comes, according to Mashable, after the official application for the F8 conference disclosed more than it’s supposed to.

“The Garage and Demo areas are now open! Just revealed: Parse for IoT, Messenger as a Platform, and the Teleportation Station,” the app is shown in a screenshot as revealing.

Parse for IoT means that the social network wants to push Parse, an app development platform, for use in the Internet of Things field. Messenger as a Platform means that the social network intends Messenger to become more than what it is today and mirror other communication apps like Viber, Line, or WeChat.

Stephen Mandel’s Lone Pine Capital increased its shares in Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) by 57% quarter over quarter to end 2014’s December quarter with about 13.5 million shares.
