US Jobless Claims & 4 Other Numbers That Could Move MR. MARKET This Morning

It’s a chilly Thursday morning in New York, and the weather doesn’t look comfortable until you cross into the Southern U.S. While meteorology obviously doesn’t have that much to do with the stock market, investors are likely hoping that today’s docket of economic releases are on the warm side.

All subpar allegories aside, here are five numbers you need to be watching this morning, listed in chronological order.

Jobless Claims, 8:30 AM ET

PMI Manufacturing Index Flash, 8:58 AM ET

FHFA House Price Index, 9:00 AM ET

Existing Home Sales, 10:00 AM ET

Philadelphia Fed Survey, 10:00 AM ET

We’ll update these figures as they come in, but in this case, jobless claims looks to be the top number worth watching. While total claims are are expected to rise slightly from last week, this number is inherently volatile, and four-week averages are at a recovery-era low..so there’s that.
