Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is currently considered as the second leading social network platform only behind Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). As everyone know, Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) platform is extensively used by many people around the world, but what we don’t know is that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) users in UK can make payments and transfer money to friends and family through just their Twitter handle from March 10. ‘The Guardian’ article discuss about this new payment mode in UK.
Barclays has announced that it will be enabling the ability to make payments to small businesses and individuals through Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) handles. Through this Barclays has become the first bank in UK to have this capability. This payment mode works through Pingit Mobile Phone App, which does not require either the user’s phone number or the bank account information.
More than 13.5 million Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) users in UK can use this Pingit app to make easy and quick payments and transfers to each other. The users just need to link their Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) account to the Pingit app, which will enable this capability.
This service will be available from March 10th in both the Android and iOS based devices. Barclays has set a payment limit of £1500 per day. Users will be able to make money transfer just through three simple clicks.
“We are always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to make people’s lives easier and customer feedback plays a big part in how we chose to further develop our apps,” Darren Foulds, Director of Barclays Mobile banking was quoted as saying.
He also added that this capability will create a new step forward for mobile payments in UK and bring a whole new level of digital and social experience.
Security concerns are always valid when it comes to mobile payments. Barclays emphasized on the fact that all transactions will be done through Pingit app and not Twitter, which ensures that security system already in place inside Pingit will be used for the transactions.
