NVIDIA (NVDA): What Foxconn and Super Micro Are Telling Us about the AI Boom

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is heading into its August 26 earnings report with expectations already elevated. Wall Street firm Stifel believes it can clear this high bar, with its bull case built around independent checkpoints scattered across the supply chain.

On August 19, Stifel analyst Ruben Roy reiterated a Buy rating on the stock with a $282.00 price target, implying roughly 30% upside from current levels. Stifel anticipates Nvidia to beat estimates and raise guidance, noting how its broader coverage preview reinforces the demand case for the stock.

Foxconn Shows AI Server Demand is Accelerating

One company behind Stifel’s bullish call is Foxconn, legally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. Foxconn is the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturer and a key Nvidia partner in its artificial intelligence buildout. The company reported second-quarter revenue of NT $2.53 trillion, jumping 41% year-over-year. Operating profit increased 68%, while net profit increased 35% backed by continued strong demand for AI.

Roy cited how Foxconn had its cloud and networking segment cross 50% of revenue for the first time with full-year AI rack shipments guided to more than double. CEO Michael Chiang reinforced this by noting that AI-related business performance will continue to grow in the third quarter and that the company expects significant quarter-on-quarter growth and strong year-on-year growth.

Super Micro’s $60 Billion Order Signal Is Hard to Ignore

Another company supporting Stifel’s bullish case is Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI). Super Micro is a global technology leader that designs and builds servers, storage systems, and complete rack-scale hardware for data centers. These AI servers and hardware sit at the core of data centers running Nvidia accelerators.

The AI server maker reported $11.1 billion in fiscal fourth quarter revenue, almost double from a year earlier. The company now expects net sales between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion for the first quarter, while analysts were expecting $11.9 billion.

In Stifel’s analyst note, Roy noted how Supermicro has booked over $60 billion of new orders in a single quarter. This is an aspect that supports his thesis that CSP capex has raised meaningfully, and is also an overall validation of the AI market.

Foxconn and SMCI may be sitting at different parts of the AI infrastructure ecosystem, but both are pointing toward aggressive AI demand.

The Bear Case

The bear case Stifel waved away in a single line has been about co-packaged optics (CPO) rollout. A June 2026 report had noted that this rollout, that integrates optical components into networking silicon to reduce power draw and boost bandwidth as GPU clusters scale, was running later than the market assumed. However, optical partners such as Lumentum and Coherent have since pushed back with hard numbers and refuted such claims.

Stifel also discussed an air pocket risk that has lately come up in investor conversations. This is a risk where customers may pause between GB300 orders while they wait for the next-gen Vera Rubin platform, creating a demand air pocket. However, supply chain conversations reflect that GB300 demand remains sustainable into the first half of 2027 even as Vera Rubin ramps.

Memory costs and inference competition also form part of the bear thesis, though Stifel notes that this is already partly reflected in Nvidia’s multiple. However, the firm has also noted that these primary risks may impact Nvidia’s gross margins. This is why the specific metric to watch on August 26 is gross margin guidance and not revenue. GB300/Vera Rubin ramp expenses are the pressure points that could pressure margins even on a revenue beat.

Hedge Fund Sentiment

Stifel’s bullish analysis on Nvidia is also echoed by hedge fund holders. At the end of the first quarter of 2026, 275 hedge funds held stake in Nvidia, up from 264 in the prior quarter. As for Super Micro, 49 hedge funds held stakes, up from 39 in the previous one.

As of late July, NVIDIA (NVDA) has 292.67 million shares sold short, representing about 1.26% of its public float and reflecting limited bearish skepticism. Super Micro’s short interest is starkly higher, roughly 14-17% of the public float. This represents how investors are caught between doubting the conversion of $60 billion of new orders and bulls optimistic about AI server demand.

Overall, Foxconn’s growth, Super Micro’s order book, and independent optics suppliers’ earnings calls are all pointing toward the same direction: the demand and infrastructure buildout Nvidia has been describing is happening on the ground. This form of evidence supports management guidance as well, leaning Stifel bullish before the print.

While we acknowledge the risk and potential of NVDA as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and doing so within a shorter time frame. When Jeff Bezos said that one breakthrough technology would shape Amazon’s destiny, even Wall Street’s biggest analysts were caught off guard.

Fast forward a year and Amazon’s new CEO Andy Jassy described generative AI as a “once-in-a-lifetime” technology that is already being used across Amazon to reinvent customer experiences.

At the 8th Future Investment Initiative conference, Elon Musk predicted that by 2040 there would be at least 10 billion humanoid robots, with each priced between $20,000 and $25,000.

Do the math. According to Musk, this technology could be worth $250 trillion by 2040.

Put another way, that’s roughly equal to:

  • 175 Teslas
  • 107 Amazons
  • 140 Metas
  • 84 Googles
  • 65 Microsofts
  • And 55 Nvidias

And here’s the wild part — this $250 trillion wave isn’t tied to one company, but to an entire ecosystem of AI innovators set to reshape the global economy.

It’s a leap so massive, it could reshape how businesses, governments, and consumers operate worldwide.

Even if that $250 trillion figure sounds ambitious, major firms like PwC and McKinsey still see AI unlocking multi-trillion-dollar potential.

How could anything be worth that much?

The answer lies in a breakthrough so powerful it’s redefining how humanity works, learns, and creates.

And this breakthrough has already set off a frenzy among hedge funds and Wall Street’s top investors.

What most investors don’t realize is that one under-owned company holds the key to this $250 trillion revolution.

In fact, Verge argues this company’s supercheap AI technology should concern rivals.

Before I reveal the details, let’s talk about how some of the richest people on the planet are positioning themselves.

  • Bill Gates sees artificial intelligence as the “biggest technological advance in my lifetime,” more transformative than the internet or personal computer, capable of improving healthcare, education, and addressing climate change.
  • Larry Ellison — through Oracle, is spending billions on Nvidia chips and partnering with Cohere to embed generative AI across Oracle’s cloud and apps.
  • Warren Buffett — not known for tech hype — says this breakthrough could have a ‘hugely beneficial social impact.

When billionaires from Silicon Valley to Wall Street line up behind the same idea — you know it’s worth paying attention to.

Even as we admire what Tesla, Nvidia, Alphabet, and Microsoft have built, we believe an even greater opportunity lies elsewhere…

But the real story isn’t Nvidia — it’s a much smaller company quietly improving the critical technology that makes this entire revolution possible.

And judging by what I’m hearing from both Silicon Valley insiders and Wall Street veterans…

This prediction might not be bold at all:

My name is Inan Dogan. I’m the co-founder and Research Director of Insider Monkey. I have an important message for you today.

Since March 2017, my stock picks have returned 16.5% annually. Today, I’ve found an opportunity even bigger than my British American Tobacco call.

Two years ago, Wall Street wrote off British American Tobacco (BTI) as a “melting ice cube.” The stock had crashed 40% from its peak, and consensus said the business was dying.

We looked under the cover and realized they were wrong.

We alerted our subscribers, and BTI returned 90% in just 16 months.

Now if you had invested just $10,000 in BTI in June 2024, you’d be sitting on $19,000 in October 2025.

Today, we have identified a nearly identical pattern in a digital-first giant trading at $3.

While the market panics over a surface-level revenue decline, our PhD-led research shows management has actually surgically cut $100 million in waste to focus on high-margin growth.

This pattern is a hallmark of our 16.5% annual return track record. The current opportunity offers a 400% upside potential—dwarfing even our 90% BTI return.
