Nokia Music Service: Nokia Rocking Out, Hoping to Attract a Larger Audience

Nokia Music Service: Late last week, we brought you this breaking story pertaining to Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK): Nokia Corporation Bringing Music Fun to a Bigger Audience

Stephen ElopWe discussed a variety of details regarding the Nokia music app, most importantly that the company has expanded beyond “Windows Phone devices and the music service is now going to be available as an app on both Windows 8 and Windows RT devices.”

With all this in mind, you may be excited about what the future holds. This is particularly true if you are a user of the desktop and/or tablet version of Windows 8.

This is a big step forward for Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK), as the company attempts to better compete in this arena.

On the Nokia website, there is plenty of information on this addition. For example, the company’s head of music, Mike Bebel, added the following:

When we launched Nokia Music+, the improvements were all designed around consumer feedback. So what did the biggest fans of the free Nokia Music service want most to take it to the next level?”

He went on to answer this rhetorical question with the following:

“What people wanted most were unlimited skips, more offline storage, access to lyrics and the ability to use the service on all of their different devices.”

Fortunately for users of this service, Nokia was listening.

Those who are familiar with the Windows Phone app will not have any trouble getting used to the desktop and tablet version. It shares a similar look, allowing people to move back and forth between the two without any confusion.

Bebel backed up this claim by saying:

It carries the same look and feel that people enjoy with the Windows Phone app, but brings it to larger screens with high quality rich media that encourages people’s journey of discovery – a great example being recommendations for more music right on the player screen.”

What about the features? As you get involved with Nokia Music for Windows 8, you can expect all of the following: 7 day free trial, mix recommendations, snap view, complete artist pages, and the ability to listen “to all the MP3’s in your ‘My Music’ library via the app.”
