Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)’s Dedication to Education

There are companies that say they care about improving the nation’s education, and then there are companies, such as Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), that back up this claim time and time again.

There are many dropout prevention programs and organizations in the United States, with Communities In Schools (CIS) known to be the largest.

The organization recently announced that its staff, along with approximately one million students, will receive Microsoft Office 365 at home free of cost.

Not only does this show that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) truly cares about the well being of today’s students, but it also gives millions of students one of the tools they need to achieve greater success in the classroom.

The president of Communities In Schools added the following in a recent press release:

“This unprecedented collaboration will allow our national network of 200 affiliates to provide their students with technology that can help close the achievement gap and better prepare students for real jobs.”

Students and teachers alike are both winners thanks to this collaboration. Yes, the organization could have spent the money to purchase Microsoft Office 365 for its teachers, however, this would have cost quite a bit of money. Not to mention the fact that the students would not have had the chance to take advantage of the technology.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s General Manager of U.S. Education is just as excited about the partnership, saying the following in the release:

“At-risk youth are often unlikely to have broadband internet and other tools for learning at home, so we see this program as one step forward in the larger mission to bring all students the skills and certifications to better prepare them for college and the modern workforce.”

This decision by Microsoft has nothing to do with profits. It has nothing to do with the company’s stock price. It has nothing to do with enticing consumers to buy a particular product, such as a tablet or smartphone. Instead, it is all about doing something for the betterment of the educational system.

Time after time, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) proves its dedication to education as well as a variety of other causes.
