Katy Huberty Apple: Katy Huberty of Morgan Stanley Talks Apple After Meeting with CFO

Katy Huberty Apple: Earlier this month, we brought you this story: Morgan Stanley’s Katy Huberty on Apple Inc. (AAPL) Margins. A few weeks have gone by, and Huberty is once again front and center. This time around, she has quite a bit to say thanks to a recent meeting with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CFO Peter Oppenheimer.

On Friday, Huberty released a note to investors talking about future innovation from the Cupertino-based company including the possibility for the expansion of its iPhone lineup.

According to AppleInsider, here is what Huberty had to say:

“The company’s approach to product decisions and innovation has not changed in the past several years despite the CEO transition. Making great products remains Apple’s core strategy and the company is as confident as ever about the future pipeline of new products and services.”

Apple Inc (AAPL)To most, this is nothing major. There are not many who question Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s dedication to remaining on the cutting edge of innovation and releasing high quality products and services to the public.

She also noted that iPhone 4 sales were strong during the final quarter of 2012, bringing hope that an “iPhone mini” would be able to do big things for the company in terms of revenue and gross profit.

What about the possibility of the company returning more money to shareholders? As you know, this is something that has been talked about time and time again as of late.

The same article goes on to say:

“Huberty believes the company will likely return more cash to shareholders. She believes the iPhone maker could match the S&P 500 IT sector’s average free cash flow payout of 68 percent.”

“At that rate, Apple could return $28 billion to shareholders in fiscal year 2013, which would imply a 6 percent total yield on the company’s dividend.”

Morgan Stanley has kept its overweight rating for Apple with a price target of $630.
