Apple 128GB iPad: A couple of days back, we brought you an update about a new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad. The128GB version of the fourth generation iPad with Retina display is perfect for those who crave a lot of storage.

Apple Inc (AAPL)While there are rumors that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to release a thinner, lighter iPad in the near future, the Cupertino-based company has not shed any light on this topic just yet.

Jon Erlichman of Bloomberg TV recently sat down to talk about the 128GB iPad, as well as other related topics.

In the video, the host starts out by discussing the fact that there was no fanfare surrounding the release of this model.

Here is what Erlichman had to say:

“I know Apple would never say they are following the lead of Samsung, but there are some important things about this particular product. Number one, Apple wants to sell more iPads to businesses. And number two, we could see a next generation of iPads pretty soon.”

After explaining more about the additional storage space, Erlichman tackles the thought that a next generation Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad could be coming down the line at some point in the near future.

“We have seen with the iPad 2, and then, don’t call it the iPad 3, but the iPad 3, those came out in March of 2011 and 2012. And then you had, because of the iPad mini, more products introduced last fall, but it feels like they are just trying to get everything out tied to that current generation before the next big launch perhaps later, the next few months.”

Erlichman is then prompted by the host to discuss the “whole cannibalization issue:”

“The reason he (Tim Cook) says this, and said it very clearly on the recent call, we don’t care about it, we don’t fear cannibalization, is because if they don’t come out with the new products their view is that somebody else will. And it’s not just limiting the sales of current iPads by bringing a new iPad in, it’s other product lines like the Mac and Tim Cook is the first to say that the iPad takes away from some Mac sales.”
