BlackBerry Q10: Is This Research In Motion BlackBerry Device A Savior?

BlackBerry Q10: Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry has been searching for something to hang its hat on. From its new operating system to its Z10 smartphone, the once dominant smartphone company is looking for anything that can give it a boost.

If early sales numbers are an indicator, it appears that the Research in Motion Ltd Q10 could be just what the company has been searching for.

Research in Motion Ltd. (BBRY)This smartphone, complete with a QWERTY keyboard, is doing big things in the UK. While this is only one segment of the market, anything is better than nothing at all for BlackBerry. After all, the company has gone through a rough patch and desperately needs something good to happen.

According to an article by The Guardian, the Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry Q10 is the “fastest selling ever at Selfridges as corporates snap it up.”

Despite the fact that the company did not spend a lot of time and money on advertising in the UK, it seems that things are working out just fine.

If you are not familiar with Selfridges, it is a chain of high end department stores scattered throughout the UK.

With a hot start in the UK, thanks to its dominance at Selfridges, BlackBerry may be on the right track with its Q10. While we will know more once the phone is launched in other parts of the world, including North America, the company could not have asked for a better start.

Just how many Research In Motion Ltd Q10 phones are being sold at Selfridges? While exact numbers are not available, the same Guardian piece explained that the units were selling at a pace of “thousands per hour.”

Yes, we are talking about Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry and its Q10, not Apple.

In a statement, Selfridges broke some big news. The company let it be known that the BlackBerry Q10 was “its fastest-selling consumer electronics product ever.”

In a statement, the store said:

“Selfridges’ initial stock of the BlackBerry Q10 sold out in stores within two hours. Stock of the BlackBerry Q10 is being continually delivered on the hour, every hour to keep up with demand.”

At this point, Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry is yet to talk about its initial sales in the UK. However, if sales at Selfridges is any indication the Q10 is on a roll.
