Is it a Good Time to Sell Your T-Mobile (TMUS) Shares?

ClearBridge Investments, an investment management firm, published its “Sustainability Leaders Strategy” fourth quarter 2021 investor letter – a copy of which can be downloaded here. The ClearBridge Sustainability Leaders Strategy outperformed its Russell 3000 Index benchmark during the fourth quarter. On an absolute basis, the Strategy had gains in nine of 10 sectors in which it was invested (out of 11 sectors total). The main contributors were the IT, consumer discretionary, and health care sectors. The communication services sector was the sole detractor. ClearBridge Investments Sustainability Leaders Strategy, in its Q4 2021 investor letter, mentioned T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) and discussed its stance on the firm. Founded in 1994, T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) is a Bellevue, Washington-based telecommunications company with a $165.6 billion market capitalization, and is currently spearheaded by its CEO, Mike Sievert. T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE:TMUS) delivered a 14.32% return since the beginning of the year, while its 12-month returns are up by 0.88%. The stock closed at $132.59 per share on April 04, 2022.

“As mentioned, the communication services sector has come under some pressure, and irrational pricing competition has negatively impacted wireless industry growth and profitability of late, weighing on T-Mobile. Faced with these headwinds, and with pressure from other wireless carriers and cable companies that could cause the company to cede share in subscriber growth in 2022, we exited our position in the fourth quarter.”
