Here is Why Piper Sandler Named Q2 Holdings (QTWO) Its Top Pick

On September 10, Piper Sandler analyst Bill Carcache initiated coverage of Q2 Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:QTWO), giving the stock an Overweight rating and setting the price target at $82.

The research firm started coverage on companies in the payments and consumer finance group and named Q2 Holdings, Inc. as its preferred name in the sector.

Here is Why Piper Sandler Named Q2 Holdings (QTWO) Its Top Pick

According to Piper Sandler, the company offers the “clearest combination” of subscription revenue growth, visibility into annual recurring revenue, and improving free cash flow conversion. The firm also highlighted the company’s growing margins and debt-free balance sheet. Piper Sandler said these factors support what it sees as the clearest path toward durable growth among the payments and consumer finance group.

Q2 Holdings, Inc. delivered strong financial performance in Q2 2026. The company reported revenue of $219.8 million, an increase of 13% year-over-year and 2% sequentially. GAAP gross margin improved to 59.2% from 53.6% in the prior-year quarter, while GAAP net income rose to $29.9 million from $11.8 million.

Adjusted EBITDA reached a record $62.8 million, up 37% year-over-year. The company said it delivered another quarter of consistent execution, with strong bookings across its solutions.

The company’s subscription annualized recurring revenue increased 15% year-over-year to $825.5 million. During the quarter, Q2 Holdings, Inc. also secured eight Tier 1 and enterprise wins, showing strong demand for its solutions.

Growth Comes With Some Challenges

However, not all of the company’s revenue streams grew at the same pace. Total non-subscription revenue was roughly flat from a year earlier, as higher transactional revenue was largely offset by continued pressure in more discretionary professional services.

Q2 Holdings, Inc. said operating expenses also increased year-over-year, mainly because of higher research and development costs for product and AI investments. While these investments could support future growth, they may put pressure on margins if expenses are not managed effectively.

Hedge Fund Interest Falls, But Analysts Remain Bullish

Hedge fund interest in the stock has declined in the second quarter. According to Insider Monkey‘s database, 31 hedge funds held positions in Q2 Holdings, Inc. in the second quarter of 2026, down from 37 in the first quarter.

At the same time, short interest remains relatively high. As of August 31, short interest stood at 11.73% of the company’s float, showing a notable level of bearish positioning in the stock.

Analysts, however, remain bullish on the stock. As of September 11, Q2 Holdings, Inc. had a consensus Buy rating and a median 12-month price target of $75, implying potential upside of about 23.17% from the current stock price.

The company’s strong recurring revenue growth, improving profitability, and debt-free balance sheet support the bullish view. However, rising expenses, flat non-subscription revenue, and elevated short interest remain factors investors will want to watch.
