Permian Investment Partners is a New York-based hedge fund management firm founded in the first quarter of 2008 by Alex Duran, Scott Hendrickson, and Joseph Swain. Former partner Cara Goldenberg departed the firm in 2012. Permian employs a value-oriented, event-driven, and equity long/short strategy with a focus on Western Europe, aiming to achieve absolute returns across various market cycles.

Alex Jason Duran founded Permian Investment Partners LP in 2008, where he serves as a Partner. Before establishing Permian, he worked as an Analyst at Brahman Capital Corp. and Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC from 2004 to 2005. Additionally, he held the position of Senior Vice President at Crump Insurance Services, Inc. Mr. Duran earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004.

Scott Hendrickson is a Partner and Co-Founder of Permian Investment Partners, a $2.2 billion global long/short investment fund. Before co-founding Permian, Mr. Hendrickson worked as an Investment Analyst at Brahman Capital. He also gained experience as an Associate at Industrial Growth Partners, a middle-market private equity fund, and began his career as an Analyst in Merrill Lynch’s Investment Banking Program. Mr. Hendrickson holds a BBA in Finance from Emory University, obtained in 2000, and an MBA from Columbia Business School, earned in 2007. Additionally, he has been serving on the adjunct faculty at Columbia Business School, teaching Applied Value Investing since 2014.

Joe Swain serves as the CFO at Permian Investment Partners. He brings extensive experience from his previous role at Centerlight Capital Management. Mr. Swain holds an MBA in Accounting from Babson College, earned between 1976 and 1978.
