Google Inc (GOOG) Will Educate You From Home

During the warm summer months, many people enjoy traveling (check out this story) to visit museums, art galleries and other educational destinations. While there is nothing wrong with this, you don’t have to look very far if you don’t have the time or money to travel this summer. Rather than getting into your car for a road trip, you can go online and let Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) take you the rest of the way.

The Google Cultural Institute has quite a bit to offer. Here is what the official website has to say:

“Discover exhibitions and collections from museums and archives all around the world. Explore cultural treasures in extraordinary detail, from hidden gems to masterpieces.”

Larry PageIn addition to viewing the exhibits and collections, you can also share your favorite finds with friends.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) recently tackled this subject in a recent blog post, explaining what this feature has to offer and how the search engine giant is doing its part in growing it.

Here is a brief excerpt:

“At the Google Cultural Institute, we’ve been busy working with our partners to add a range of new online exhibitions to our existing collection. With more than 6 million photos, videos and documents, the diversity and range of subject matter is large—a reflection of the fact that culture means different things to different people. What the exhibitions have in common is that they tell stories; objects are one thing but it’s the people and places they link to that make them fascinating.”

As you can see, the existing collection featured by the Google Cultural Institute is nothing to sneeze at. It has become quite large over the years, with more than six million photos, videos, and documents currently available.

Imagine how long it would take to visit all of these exhibitions in person. It would be impossible. With the help of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), however, anybody with an internet connection can take in the information.

The British Museum, for example, is one of the most popular attractions in the UK. That being said, most people never have the chance to visit in person. With the online exhibition, interested parties from around the world, both young and old, can get the feeling that they are visiting in person.

This is just another way Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has set out to change the world. It is just another way the company is doing its part in educating people from all over.
