If we know one thing about Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) it is that the search engine giant is always looking to take things to new heights. It doesn’t matter how well received a product or feature may be, you can be rest assured that the company is going to do whatever it takes to bring more joy to users in the future.
Do you ever wonder what it would be like to scale to the top of one of the tallest buildings in the world? While you may never have the chance to personally do so, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) isn’t putting limits on anybody. Instead, the company updated its Street View feature by bringing it to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
In a recent blog post, the company talks about this:
“We took Street View to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, our first-ever collection in the Arab World. Described as a “vertical city,” the Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest manmade structure, towering over the Dubai skyline at 828 meters (2,717 ft).”
It doesn’t matter that you may never have the ability to visit this building in person. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has taken things up a level, giving you the chance to look down on the world below.
Here is more from the piece:
“This is the first time we’ve captured a skyscraper on Street View—making Google Maps even more comprehensive and useful for you. The imagery was collected over three days using the Street View Trekker and Trolley, capturing high-resolution 360-degree panoramic imagery of several indoor and outdoor locations of the building.
In addition to the breathtaking views from the world’s tallest observation deck on the 124th floor, you can also see what it feels like to hang off one of the building’s maintenance units on the 80th floor, normally used for cleaning windows!’
As you can see, this is the first time a skyscraper has been captured on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Street View. In the months to come, it will be interesting to see if the company rolls this out in additional regions throughout the world with a focus on similar views.
Once again, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is doing its part in changing the way people look at the world. This is a nice addition to its Street View feature, and one that is sure to bring even more joy to users in the future.
On the next page you will find a video showing this feature, along with the view, in action. You don’t want to miss it:
