Google Inc (GOOG) Shows Off New HQ: Game-Changer?

Over the past couple of months, we have talked quite a few times about the proposed Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) headquarters in Cupertino. While this story is well worth keeping an eye on, it is important to note that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is not lagging behind in the slightest. In fact, the search engine giant is making many of the same moves – and in some cases on a bigger scale.

While the new headquarters may not be in the United States, this is huge news for Google and its plans on taking the company even more global than what it has already become.

Here is more from the article:

“The web giant’s UK arm has submitted a planning application to Camden Council for its 1 million square foot office block, which will house all staff currently based in Victoria and Holborn.”

4 High-Growth IPOs to Own in 2013Take a closer look at what that says. You are reading it right. This is a plan for a 1 million square foot office block. This will make the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) headquarters in London quite large, showing the company’s commitment to ensuring its dominance well into the future.

If the plan is accepted, work on the building is expected to begin next year. If all goes as planned, it will be completed and ready for its new occupants sometime in 2016. This may sound like a long time from now, but it will be here before we know it.

Google UK managing director Dan Cobley was quoted as saying:

“Building our new headquarters in King’s Cross is good for Google and good for London. We’re committed to the UK and to playing a role in the regeneration of this historic area.”

In true Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) fashion, the company cares just as much about others as it does itself. It is hoping the new headquarters will do big things for the company as well as the area in which it will be located.

With roughly 50,000 square feet of shops to be included at ground level, the people of the area have to be excited about this proposed development. It will definitely bring some new shopping opportunities.

As long as things move forward as planned, the new Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) headquarters in London should be making its debut within about three years.
