Google Glass Explorer Program: Google has Found Some Glass Guinea Pigs

Google Glass Explorer Program: By now, you are probably familiar with Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass and what this technology is all about. While the device has yet to make its way public, the search engine giant has taken the first steps in introducing it to the world.

Google is one of the hedge fund industry’s most popular stock picks, and it’s always important to pay attention to the smart money (see just why here).

Yesterday, the company began to send invites to competition winners who have been selected to participate in the “Google Glass Explorer Program.” In short, this means these people will have the chance to test out the technology before the rest of the public. How cool is that?

For more information on the process, you don’t have to look any further than the company’s official Google+ post. Here is a brief excerpt to bring you up to speed as to what is going on:

“A few weeks ago we revealed that we were seeking Explorers to help us shape the future of Glass. To do that, we asked people across Google+ and Twitter to tell us what they would do #ifihadglass . We could never have imagined such an enthusiastic response! There were so many creative, diverse, and (sometimes) crazy applications. We’ve certainly learned a lot through this whole process and it’s inspiring to hear how much passion there is for Glass.”

The post went on to add that invitations are being sent out through Google+ and Twitter over the next few days. If you applied for inclusion in the program, be sure to keep an eye out for G+ posts and tweets. Even though Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) likely received thousands upon thousands of “applications,” you never know if you were one of the lucky ones.

Rather than simply release Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass to the public, the company has decided to do things this way. It appears to be working, as a growing number of people are paying attention to the technology. It is safe to say that Google knows a thing or two about building buzz around a much anticipated product.
