Google Maps View: Google Bringing NFL Stadium Views to Fans Everywhere

Google Maps View: Are you a big fan of the NFL? Do you ever wonder what it would be like to watch your favorite team play in person? Would you enjoy a behind the scenes look of an NFL stadium? If so, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is helping make your dream come true.

On Friday, the search engine giant announced that it is using Google Maps to display NFL stadium imagery.

According to a report by Mashable, Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, is up first.

Here is what the article had to say:

“By searching for Lucas Oil Stadium — with keywords such as, appropriately, “Lucas Oil Stadium” or “Colts Stadium” — in Google Maps on your web browser or app (iOS or Android), fans are treated to a 360-degree interactive photo tour.”

Google Inc (GOOG)If you are a fan of another NFL team, you may be disappointed to learn that Lucas Oil Stadium is the only league venue that is currently available. That being said, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has plans to use the same technology with additional teams in the future.

The same article shares the following quote from a company spokesperson:

“A few football enthusiasts on the Google Maps team thought it would be neat to publish imagery of NFL stadiums on Google Maps. We approached the Colts and worked closely with them to capture this imagery.”

While it is cool enough to get a closer view of the field, the imagery does not stop there.

Avis Roper, a spokesperson for the Colts, shared the following with Mashable:

“Google recognized we have one of the most dynamic facilities in the world, and this is a great way to show it. We host a number of events in our building, but some fans have never had a chance to see certain parts of the arena.”

“I think fans will be most surprised by how big the Colts locker room is — it may be one of the biggest in the NFL. I wish we could have added more photos with the roof and window open, but there are still a lot of pictures fans will love.”

If you are a fan of the NFL, you can thank Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) for bringing this imagery to your PC.
