Glenn W. Welling And Engaged Capital Reveal 4.7% Stake In Oplink Communications, Inc (OPLK); Enter Into Agreement With Voce Capital LLC To Go Activist On The Stock

Glenn W. Welling and his fund, Engaged Capital, have made a new addition to their equity portfolio: Oplink Communications, Inc (NASDAQ:OPLK). According to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Engaged Capital has acquired approximately 863,500 shares or 4.7% of the common stock. The fund has also entered an agreement with Voce Capital LLC and its manager, J. Daniel Plants, to go activist on Oplink Communications, Inc (NASDAQ:OPLK). Welling and Plants have pledged to discuss operating results and costs with the management of the company and to also look for ways to increase shareholder value.

Chuck Royce also likes Oplink Communications, Inc (NASDAQ:OPLK) and has increased his fund’s holding of the stock by 4% during the first quarter of 2014. His fund, Royce & Associates, has reported ownership of approximately 1.12 million shares in its latest 13F filing. John W. Rogers and Ariel Investments are also bullish on this stock and have boosted their stake by 210% taking it to 1.07 million shares. John Overdeck and David Siegel, on the other hand, have reduced their exposure to Oplink Communications, Inc (NASDAQ:OPLK) by 1%, leaving their fund, Two Sigma Advisors, with approximately 51,400 shares.
