Google Glass Technology: Don’t Be Driving With Google Glass in the Mountain State

Google Glass Technology: Although Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass technology may end up being the next big thing, keep this in mind: using it while you are driving is likely to be illegal in most states at some point in the near future. In fact, West Virginia is already looking into this.

Google is one of the hedge fund industry’s most popular stock picks, and it’s always important to pay attention to the smart money (see just why here).

It appears that Gary G. Howell, a Republican in the West Virginia Legislature, is a big fan of CNET.

It was this review by the tech website that prompted Howell to bring forward a bill that will make it illegal to drive while “using a wearable computer with head mounted display.”

While Howell may be responsible for the bill, he is not against the technology as a whole. In fact, he appears to enjoy it.

Here is what Howell had to say to the author of the CNET piece:

“I actually like the idea of the product and I believe it is the future, but last legislature we worked long and hard on a no-texting-and-driving law. It is mostly the young that are the tech-savvy that try new things. They are also our most vulnerable and underskilled drivers. We heard of many crashes caused by texting and driving, most involving our youngest drivers. I see the Google Glass as an extension.”

At this point, it is easy to see that Google Glass is going to spawn quite a few new laws throughout the United States. West Virginia may be the first state to discuss this, as far as we know, but plenty more are sure to jump on board in the near future.

While there is no denying the fact that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Glass has quite a bit to offer, it is important to note that safety comes first. This is what Gary G. Howell is most concerned with.
