D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) Introduces Sixth Generation Quantum Computer

D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE:QBTS) stock surged 27.6% on Tuesday after it announced the general availability of its Advantage2 quantum computer.

Advantage2 system is the sixth generation quantum computer, making it the company’s most advanced and performant system. It features over 4,400 qubits with a unique Zephyr topology offering 20-way qubit connectivity. This enhanced connectivity allows embedding and solving more complex problems than previous generations.

Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE:QBTS) noted that compared to the previous version, the Advantage2 delivers a 40% increase in energy scale, a 75% reduction in noise, and a twofold increase in qubit coherence time. Moreover, despite its increased power, the Advantage2 system maintains energy efficiency, consuming roughly the same 12.5 kilowatts of electricity as earlier generations.

The company said that its Advantage2 system is ready to be installed for customers with on-site needs and is also available through its D-Wave’s Leap quantum cloud service, making it available in more than 40 countries. The company’s revenue is growing rapidly and increased by 500% year-over-year increase in Q1 as sales reached $15 million.
