Nokia Lumia 928: Could this New Nokia Smartphone be the Next Big Thing?

Nokia Lumia 928: There is no denying the fact that Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) is struggling to keep up with the competition. Does this mean the company is going to roll over and succumb to the competition? Of course not. Instead, Nokia is looking to change its approach with hopes that it can begin to regain market share in key markets across the globe.

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NOK)There are multiple reports, including one from The Verge, stating that the Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 928 for Verizon has been leaked. As you can imagine, this is one of the many devices that the company is hanging its hat on as it attempts to stage a serious comeback against the competition.

If you want to check out the images of the device, you can do so by visiting the Twitter page for user @evleaks.

If you are familiar with Nokia smartphones, you may wonder what is so different about this device than the 920 that is sold by AT&T. For the most part, you are not going to recognize many differences.

That being, there are some subtle hints that this is a new smartphone. In the same article by The Verge, some of these clues are pointed out:

“The elongated flash and 4G LTE branding are the only visual cues that we’re not looking at a black 920. We’ve heard from sources that the phone will have a new xenon flash, in addition to the 920’s LED unit, and the picture would seem to back that up.”

Is the Image Accurate?

Any time there is a leak of this magnitude, people are skeptical about whether or not what they are saying is what the company will actually release.

The Verge is confirming that the image is genuine. They noted that Nokia has plans to release the smartphone later in April, while also adding that “the company will not be using an aluminum frame for this particular device as originally reported.”

Instead of the aluminum frame, the Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 928 will feature a thinner polycarbonate. Along with this, the handset will be thinner than the 920, ranging from 10.2mm to 11.2mm.

It will be interesting to see if the Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 928 is the next big thing for the company or just another flop.

If Nokia wants to better compete in the smartphone space, it needs to start releasing products, such as this one, that get people excited. Do you agree? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
