BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Classic Wins with Blend of Old, New

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) may not be doing much in terms of smartphone market share, but the company continues to excel by providing its customers with high quality devices that are full of all the best features.

The BlackBerry Classic is one such example, with this smartphone blending the old and the new as a means of giving users a balanced experience.

What’s the Deal with the Classic?

At first glance, the BlackBerry Classic looks like a smartphone from a few years back. And there is nothing wrong with that. It may not look as sleek and modern as some of today’s top selling smartphones, such as the iPhone 6, but it still has a lot going for it.

In addition to the traditional appearance, the Classic comes with a variety of productivity features. Combine these with top notch security and it is easy to see why so many business professionals are calling it their favorite device on the market.

But that isn’t the end of the story. Other features attracting consumers to this BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) model include a full QWERTY keyboard combined with various classic navigation features. As if all that is not enough, get this: it has a 22 hour battery. Once again, enterprise users rejoice.

BlackBerry recently published a blog post discussing the benefits of the Classic, including some quotes from the industry. Here is one from Ewan Spence at Forbes, as he compares the Classic to the iPhone 6;

“Looking at the business and enterprise side of things, if you’re looking for a design that calls for a lot of text input, then at first sight the BlackBerry Classic is the winner. The bulk of the BlackBerry allows it a basic and defining advantage over the iPhone 6. The battery life has to be the key factor, so the BlackBerry Classic will edge the hardware victory.”

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has not had much luck competing with the market leaders over the past few years, but the company continues to satisfy its hardcore users with devices such as the Classic.

The road ahead is full of challenges and nobody knows what the future holds for the once dominant smartphone company. At this point, however, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) continues to do its thing and do it well.
