Next Generation iPad: Apple’s Next-Gen iPad – What’s New About It?

Next Generation iPad: At this point, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans and investors want nothing more than the Cupertino based company to release a new product. These people are craving something new, and hope that Apple will comply in the near future.

A Leading Company Cheaper Than 90% Of Blue Chips... And It Recently Bounced 12%While talk of the next generation Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone has been heating up, let’s not overlook what the fifth generation iPad could bring to the table. It is safe to say that just as many people are excited about this tablet.

According to a report by DigiTimes, which may or may not be accurate based on its past predictions, the next generation iPad could begin production in July with shipments beginning at some point later in the fall season.

Here is what the article had to say:

“The display of the new iPad, which will hit market shelves as early as September, will still be a 2,048 x 1,536 Retina display, the same as the one used in the 4th-generation model, except that the new display is built on a glass substrate of 0.2mm, thinner than the 0.25mm one for the 4th-generation device, the sources said, adding the new table will has a narrow bezel.”

This would be an interesting upgrade, as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is always interested in a thinner and lighter device.

It would not make sense for Apple to roll out an iPad that is the same size as the current generation so look for this to happen when Cupertino finally pushes the device to the public.

The article goes on to lend some additional insight on production:

“LG Display, Samsung Display and Sharp are expected to be the suppliers of display panels for the 5th-generation iPad, while Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology will undertake SMT for the LED light bars, Radiant Opto-Electronics and Coretronic will be responsible for making the backlight units and TPK Holding for touch panel bonding, the sources said.”

If the DigiTimes sources are accurate, the new fifth generation Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad will be up to 33 percent lighter than the current generation. Combine this with a thinner design, all while keeping the same high level features of the current tablet, and it appears that the company has another winner on its hands.

What are you hoping to see in the next generation Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)? Do you believe DigiTimes sources on when production will begin?
