Apple Patents: While some Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) patents appear to be far fetched, others actually get people excited because they can see them helping in the near future.
With Apple applying for so many patents every year, you never really know what technology the Cupertino based company is actually considering implementing in future devices.
However, one of the most recent Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is sure to get a lot of people excited.
When you first check out the details of the patent – Adapter for connecting accessories to an electronic device – you may see something that has been done before. But this is anything but the case. Instead, the company has taken a new approach to this old idea.
Here is the abstract, giving a clear idea of what the patent covers:
“Users with headsets may share an electronic device such as a portable computer or handheld device. The electronic device may have a connector such as an audio jack for receiving mating audio plugs on headsets. During normal operation with a single user, audio signals may be conveyed through the audio jack to the headset of the single user. When more than one user wishes to share the electronic device, an adapter accessory may be inserted into the audio jack of the electronic device. The headset of each user may be plugged into mating audio jacks in the adapter accessory. Circuitry in the adapter accessory may receive and process user input from each of the users. User input may be used to make local audio adjustments in the adapter accessory. User input may also be provided from the adapter accessory to the electronic device for processing.”
The first sentence pretty much says it all, however, it is the subsequent information that sets this Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) patent apart from the crowd.
As you move through the patent, you will learn that this technology will allow users to independently control volume along with other details. This alone makes it more than what users may have experienced in the past.
This is one of those Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) patents that could actually be put to good use by a lot of people. It would allow more than one user to share the same device, without having to share the same controls.
