Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone 5: Turtle Slow or Rabbit Fast?

When shopping for a smartphone, there are many things consumers look for. One of the most important aspects of any device is the speed at which it works (see just how fast here). Nobody wants to wait around for their device to catch up. This leads to the question: how does the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5 stack up to the competition in the speed department? Is it the leader of the pack?

According to a recent study by the consumer group Which?, this Apple device is slower than the competition. While this may not be a surprise to those who have used the iPhone 5 as well as many other smartphones, consumers who have only relied on the device from Cupertino may be shocked.

Steve JobsThe consumer group carried out a variety of tests, spanning seven popular smartphones that are currently being used by millions of people all over the world. This includes the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5 as well as others such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

Here is a brief introduction from the study:

“Despite being crowned the world’s best-selling smartphone in February, Apple’s iPhone 5 has aged badly since its launch last year. We measured it against the latest handsets on the market and it finished in last place, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 proving almost twice as fast.”

As you know, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its iPhone 5 is facing quite a bit of competition in the smartphone market. Not only is Samsung an industry leader right now, but there are many other companies hoping to grab some market share in the near future.

The one good thing Apple has going for it right now is the fact that its newest iPhone is set to be released later this year. In other words, you can expect the new device from Cupertino to provide a better user experience which will undoubtedly mean more speed.

While it is not much of a surprise that the Samsung Galaxy S4 was able to outdo the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5, many may be surprised to find that the other devices in the study were also faster than what Cupertino has to offer.

As far as this study is concerned, the Apple iPhone 5 is turtle slow – at least when compared to six other smartphones that performed better.
